FAQs
How do I join a group?
Just scroll down to the bottom of any of the pages on our website and fill out the form: 'I'm thinking of joining a group!'
How do I pay for groups?
When you sign up for a group, you are offered a free taster session. If you would like to join, you will be sent information about the group, policies and guidelines, including bank details to be able to make bank transfers to pay for the sessions. If you choose to pay cash for your sessions that is also acceptable. All payments are due at the start of each half term.
What do I do if I have a problem?
We are here for you; if you have any difficulties, concerns or problems we are happy to help so please speak to us. Please refer to the complaints handling policy in 'Policies' above for details.
Do I stay with my child for the session or do I have to leave?
We are happy for parents/carers to stay and support their child should they wish. We would however require that they stay in the main hall and only accompany their child to the toilets should the need arise.
Children left in our care will only be supervised and cared for by our staff, who are trained and have active, enhanced DBS in place and the sessions are planned and designed for this practice.
What kind of Drama will my child be participating in?
Our practice is often framed by the children themselves and our content is written afresh, specifically for the individuals in the group and consists of emotional literacy and confidence building games and activities which develop Drama skills in expressing self and creating characters through use of the voice, facial expression, body language, gesture, movement, costume and language.
The very core of all we do is to build confidence and community for the children and young people in our care: at no point will any child be engaging in Drama with age-inappropriate content. Be fully reassured, all our content is completely family friendly.
Will my child be filmed and photographed to appear on public forums and social media?
Film and photograph are a very useful part of what we do in celebrating the achievements of each child. Although some sessions may be filmed and photographs may be taken at intervals, each parent/carer has the right to withdraw consent for their child to be photographed or filmed. In these cases the child in question will be pixelated to hide their image in group records and no individual records will be taken.
Parents/carers may also request their child does not appear on social media, the official LampLight website nor the community centre or school's website.
Such requests will be honoured without exception.
Our children and young people will all have the option of taking part in live and filmed performances and in such cases would necessarily have to agree to film and photography.
Please also refer to our Data Protection policy above.
